Terms of service
These terms govern your use of Verifyd, including the browser extension, the website, the publisher badge and the API (together, "Verifyd"), provided by Planckchron Inc. ("we", "us"). By using Verifyd you agree to them.
1. What Verifyd is, and what it isn't
Verifyd reports signals about images, web pages and claims: Content Credentials, declared or detected AI generation, earlier sightings, look-alike domains, published fact-checks and independent sources. Verifyd links to sources it believes are the original or genuine version.
Political claims. TRUTH, FALSE and DISPUTED on a speech reflect only the published rating of the named fact-checking organisation linked on the stamp. Verifyd does not make or alter those ratings and treats every speaker, party and campaign by the same rules. Fact-checkers can be wrong; the link is there so you can judge for yourself.
Verdicts are informational, not a guarantee. Signals can be missing, mistaken or out of date; detectors and fact-checkers make errors; a picture with no badge is not thereby fake or real. Do not rely on Verifyd as the sole basis for any decision with legal, financial, medical or safety consequences. Pages we link to are run by others and we are not responsible for their content.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Verifyd to harass, defame, or target any person, or present a verdict as something it isn't;
- submit content you have no right to submit, or content that is illegal to possess, including child sexual abuse material;
- try to probe, overload, scrape or bypass the limits of the service, or reach private networks through it;
- resell or white-label the API without a written agreement with us.
3. API keys
API keys are issued to a named business and are confidential. You are responsible for use of your key. Daily limits apply to each key; requests over the limit are refused until the next UTC day. We may suspend or revoke a key that is abused, shared publicly, or used against these terms. Paid plans, if any, are governed by an order form that takes precedence over these terms where they conflict.
4. Publisher badge
You may embed badge.js on your own site to badge your own images. Do not alter badges to show a verdict Verifyd did not give.
5. Your content
You keep all rights to what you submit. You give us a limited licence to process it to provide Verifyd, as described in the privacy policy.
6. Our rights
Verifyd's software, name and design belong to us. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Verify. We will try to give reasonable notice of material changes to the API.
7. Disclaimers
VERIFY IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF VERIFY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR VERIFY IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND US$100.
9. Ending use
You can stop using Verifyd at any time by uninstalling the extension or ceasing to call the API. We may end your access if you breach these terms.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring proceedings there.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will update the effective date and, where reasonable, tell you in the extension or by email to API customers. Continuing to use Verifyd after a change means you accept it.
